Never Talk Back To Mother Nature

As I sit here at the table I see the clouds racing across the sky. I glimpse blue sky and sunlight breaks through on my balcony. I see a large tree showcasing bright green spring leaves. I see my cats snoozing in the bright light. I see children playing.

How we look at the world is how we live our lives. There are days when I look out and all I can see are the storm clouds. When my focus is on how miserable things are. Those are the bad days. Luckily I do not have too many of those. I realized I do not want to live my life in that way. I do not like the person I am then.

Yes, bad things happen. There are times when it is out of our control. When in spite of all our best intentions the dark clouds roll in. All we can to then is to let it run its course. Acknowledge the pain, the misery, the darkness and wait it out because the sun will shine again. We might not see it or even believe it but there never is darkness without light.

In our everyday life we have a choice. A choice on how we look at the world around us. We can look at the racing storm clouds and only see the darkness or we can see the beauty of Mother Nature. I choose to see the smiling faces amongst the frowns. I cannot control everything in my life and nor do I want to but I can choose on what I want to focus on.

As I sit here at the table I see sunlight. I see the amazing beauty of spring. I see happiness. I see hope eternal.

What do you see?

  1. Bob says:

There were a lot of years where I would sit in my apartment and crack beer after beer looking out the window. I could see the outside but I never really cared to venture out so far into it. I got lost in anonymity, walking in the malls a stranger in a crowd.

Eventually I learned to poke my head out from under my rock and explore, like you say the hope eternal. Even if it does not happen today or tomorrow the sun will come back out again, sometime and soon.

Don’t get caught up in the why’s, sometimes things just don’t work out. Try to learn from your past while embracing the new pallet of paint you have in front of you to paint a new and vibrant future. Focus on the bright colours they seem to suit you Ivy.

I see a warm weekend coming to s slow close. The city quietly sinking into sunday evening around me, and my email folder sparkling with interesting opportunities for Monday.

  3. We look and see what we want to see. Learning not to pre-color the view but rather just observe. It helps in facing the dreary days as they come, to make memorable moments even out of them. Just look out and focus on the happiness and the hope, as you said it. No prejudged views or predicaments. Just play with the colors as they come 🙂 Enjoy your day. N your beer !!

  4. What do I see? I see my bloggie friend making a choice to see the good, and the positive, in spite of everything else. You are right; we can’t always control what happens in our lives, but what we *can* control is how we respond to it. Here is my favorite quote about hope:

Hope is the thing with feathers
    That perches in the soul
And sings the tune — without the words
    And never stops at all

    ~Emily Dickinson

Here’s wishing you much hope and many rainbows.

  5. Anders Holm says:

    “Keep going” – Soke
    “Smile” – Sensei

Everyday, keep moving. Every day, keep smiling. It’s been working wonders for me and I know it is working wonders for you. Just keep going. Gambatte Nush!
