OK Bob… this is for you. You tagged me and here are my answers. I am sacrificing an early nights sleep in order to write this post. This statement clearly has nothing to with me feeling guilty that I have not gotten around to do this ages ago…

1. What’s  your favorite colour and why?  (Memories, associations, ect.)

I go through phases with colours so this changes frequently. The one colour that has stayed with me a lot is blue. It is my favorite ink – I prefer writing with a blue pen. I looove blue jeans. My first bicycle was blue. My favorite necklace is blue as well.

2. What’s the most memorable thing you’ve done in a car?

Have not done anything scandalous in a car. The most cherished memory I have is driving my first car on my own and totally falling in love in driving down the road in the sun with good music on and the windows down. Simple thing but pretty brilliant.

3. Explain the happiest day of your life.

Ohhh, I cannot pinpoint any particular day. A day when the sun is shining, hanging with a good friend/friends and sharing many laughs makes a happy day for me.

4. Explain the a hardest day of your life.  Not necessarily worst but hardest.

Well, had a few like most people. One particular hard one was the day (many years ago) when I lost my job, found out a loan application fell through, didn’t get a travel visa I wanted and fell out with my best friend all within 24 hours.

5. If you had to leave the country that you live in short notice where would you go and what one thing would you bring with you.  Think Zombie apocalypse.

Tahiti? Well, on short notice I’d say I would make my way to continental Europe and just see where in which country I end up in. I would bring my cats though they are not a thing (would bring them anyway) so the one thing I would bring would be my mobile phone… yes I am that sad.

6. Are you a people person?

Yes. I am not someone who loves to mingle and meet new people all the time. I can be quite reserved at first but once I get to know someone and am comfortable in a group, then I never shut up (or so I have been told…). I like people. I still have faith in them.

7. Given a time machine where would you go and what would you do?

Now this one I can never really answer… I love history so I would for example love to go back to Ancient Greek times and see all the buildings and temples when they were new. I also love science fiction and I am a very curious person so I would love to go far ahead in time and see if we actually ever really make it out into space properly. Beam me up!

8. Do you believe in ghosts?

There are too many things out there that we have no real explanation for. So yes, I believe in ghosts but I detest the whole ghost exploration/Derek Acorah nonsense.

9. Are you a prude? Explain.

I would never join a nudist colony but I have no major issues with nudity etc per se. Living in Ireland has probably made me more of a prude than I was when I moved here but I do not see myself as a prude.

10. What are your thoughts on the socioeconomic ramifications of the possible collapse of the European Union?

Bring on the gold buillons? If it would collapse (which I doubt) then we would deal with the mess and then get on with things one country at a time. Hopefully a little bit wiser and a little less greedy (or so one can hope).

11. What’s your favorite movie theater memory?

Watching the “Santa Clause” movie in 1985 with my sister and her then fella. In this particular cinema you where not allowed to bring in food (no idea why) but my sister’s fella smuggled in a few cans of coca cola and sweets and I was very impressed. And I loved the movie.

Right folks, that is all!

I finally managed to get a quick post written and it can be found on the blog Living 3703 here. There always seems to be much to do and sometimes having a list helps.

Let’s hope I can tick off all the items on that list this month.

Yes – I know, I know (hanging head low) I have been a very bad blogger lately. Not a single line has been written. I even neglected to check my stats (in fear that they have turned abysmal which would not have been surprising at all). In fact I have hardly turned on switched on my laptop for days (not turned on… it is good but not THAT good). My only online world (apart from work which is a whole other playing field) has consisted of FB on my phone.

Yes I know it is possible to blog with a smartphone… I even have the app! BUT… no, it is just a bit too much hassle. So what’s up with this absence you may ask; have I met someone, have I been on some exotic holiday, have I forgotten to leave work and slept under my desk? Hmm not quite. I’ve been busy in work yes. Apart from meeting up with my friends… I have a zero romantic social life. Unless I win the lotto the most exotic holiday is my balcony at the moment, which leads me to something that most definitely has kept me away from the laptop… the sun shone down on Ireland!! We went from 11 degrees and rain to 22 degrees and UNBROKEN sunshine (it actually said that in the weather report!) in two days!! I have never (read:NEVER) read that in an Irish weather report in the 12 years I have lived here. Just so that you understand the phenomenal event that it has been. I have not lost the plot quite yet. However, yes I have been that excited about this.

Another reason you see to why I have not been blogging is that I was feeling extremely down. I got sick of only writing about feeling crap and in the end I just did not have anything to say anymore. I mean, how many times can you say that you feel down. Yes there are/were things that are not great and that contributed to me feeling the way I felt but normally I can get myself out of the funk after a while. This time I didn’t and then… the sun came out. All the sudden life felt easier and I was relaxing in my sunchair on my balcony (after a major scrub the decking looked nice again). I was walking down the beach in the sun with friends soaking up the happy atmosphere and equal parts sunshine. I realized I (amongst other things) was in severe need of vitamin D. So I made sure to spend as much time outside as possible. Didn’t burn myself either apart from a spot om my back where I could not reach when applying sun lotion (wonder if cats can be taught to apply sun lotion…). What a difference a bit of sun makes.

Today it is actually a bit cloudy but still 20 degrees and they say the weekend is supposed to be nice. Think a hike is on the cards at the weekend. In either case, I feel much happier. There are still things I need to look into and things are not all rosy and great but that subject is for another time.

So all I wanted to say really is that I am still here. I have not given up on blogging. It may have become somewhat sporadic but bear with me.

Hope the sun is shining on you wherever you may be!

Summer in Dublin. Dollymount Beach.

Went for a longer walk today with some friends. In gale storm winds with the sand clinging to everything. Yeah, walking along the beach in strong wind might not be the best idea unless you want to chew sand for a good few hours but it was worth it. Lots of kite surfers and wind surfers out at the beach taking advantage of a windy day with no freezing rain.

I needed to get out a bit. There was no training at the club yesterday so instead I cleaned the entire apartment, for hours. Even cleaning the windows!! Which, if you know me, is a very rare occurrence. My cats have a clear view out again and the neighbors in, I guess… whatever perspective you prefer. So getting out and stretching my legs was sorely needed. As tired as I have been lately I did seem to have a weird surge of energy, I could have kept walking for many more hours. It was just so nice.

When I was younger I actually loathed “going for a walk”… I always thought it was boring and not fast enough and what was the point… yeah, funny how things change. Now I actually cherish to go for a long walk. It clears my head (and works my legs and bum – always a bonus). Walking with friends is great. You get to share some beautiful scenery, get out and about and can have a chat or just companionable silence and then finish of with a cold beer, glass of wine or good aul latte. There is no better therapy for a tired and fed-up mind.

That is really how things have been a bit… tired and fed-up, hence the non-existent blogging. So it seems the walking did the trick. Now I just have to pray, dance, sing to the weather gods that they send some decent weather to Ireland for a while (though my singing might have the opposite effect so might leave that out) so that we can have plenty more days walking. Preferably without walking into a sandstorm.

Monday is nipping at the heels once again. So I will enjoy the last Sunday hours, hope you all have a good one.

Oh my… I have not posted in AGES! What has happened you might ask…. well time happened. AND a whole load of other shite that I’m really not in the mood for or have time for (see: time again..) to go through.

Let’s just leave it at time has flown. There has not been enough time left in the day after work, getting my head around crap that happened, hanging with friends (trying to forget said crap) and sleeping. Yes, I do love a good snooze.

But hey, slowly but surely things are working out. twi twi twi, fingers crossed, salt chucked over shoulder etc etc>. Some decisions were made, some not so fun ones. A plan is slowly taking shape. It is spring in the air and the sun is shining this afternoon. It is going in the right direction. April is looking promising – a few days away to the west of Ireland over Easter, friends visiting another weekend and hopefully some normality.

As an added bonus I found my old inline skates in a bag. I have been pondering the fact that I do need to find some way to add a cardio work-out in my life that does not involve spending money or jogging (cos no matter how many times I try, I still detest it). So et voilà! Inline skating! I have not done it for years but I believe I remember the basics…. If I write the next post from a hospital bed you will know what has happened. With the evenings staying brighter for long, it could just be the perfect solution.

Wish me luck.

It feels weird. For the first time in ages my work week has not been full on busy. I have actually had time to feel…

wait for it…

… a bit BORED!

Wow. As in really?

Today I actually caught myself procrastinating – well mainly because I have this one thing I need to get done that is immensely tedious and now that I actually have the time… So before I actually made myself start this tedious task,  I cleaned my desk, organized the drawers, had numerous important “meetings” with colleagues over coffee (hey, social/professional networking IS important you know!) and gone through old behavioral/social/personality tests that I have taken throughout the last 2 years in work ( I just LOVE those!!). I have a thing for those tests.

So yeah, have been a bit of a scatterbrain today. But hey, it is not like I normally have time for it so I actually did cherish it.

Just one day left of the work week and then it is weekend. I am tremendously looking forward to relaxing this weekend. Am going away to the northwest of Ireland with a friend. Looking forward to just being outside in rugged and beautiful scenery. Hoping to be able to take some pictures as well as getting some decent walks in … so please, please dear weather-gods, do not make it rain buckets! I don’t think I have looked forward to a weekend away this much in ages. Yes it will most likely be freezing (it is February after all) but I really do not care.

Am hoping that I will have a few more moment over in the future so that I can post here a bit more often. In the mean time, please feel free to drop into Living 3703 as a new picture is posted there by Christy and myself every day this month!

For the month of February, Christy and myself, will run a photo challenge at our joint blog Living 3703.

The first post describing this in more detail can be found here! Feel free to drop in. We will post a picture each every day…. not sure if we are slightly insane or not…
